Ian Day, MD

Dr. Ian Richard Day, FAAFP, FRSA, FRSM
Ian Day, MD, currently Chief of Medicine at Bert Fish Hospital and on serves on their Medical Executive Committee, seeks to bridge the gap within the omniverse of medicine, encompassing the spectrum of care from birth to death, the art and science
of medicine, patient and physician points of view, the mind body connection, quality and compassion of care, and the ethical guidelines for all that are involved. His background is both English and Scottish. Dr. Day is a Fellow of the American
Academy of Family Physicians, Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts (UK), and was recently appointed a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine in London. His expertise in treating the "entire patient" has gained him respect on both sides of the pond
and even caught the attention of Her Majesty, Elizabeth II who recognized his skill via petition to be presented at Parliament for an Honor of the British Empire. He graduated Cum Laude from the University of Notre Dame, received his MD from the
Georgetown University School of Medicine, and spent another three years in residency with the University of South Florida College of Medicine Affiliated Hospital, Halifax Medical Center (where he was Resident Director). Dr. Day is a Diplomat & Board
Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, Member, Florida Academy of Family Physicians, and Member, Society of Hospital Medicine. He received the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Award, American Academy of Family Physicians
(6/99), and was the Resident of the Year, Halifax Medical Center Family Practice Residency Program (6/99). He is currently a Hospitalist at Bert Fish Medical Center in New Smyrna Beach, FL, and serves as the Chairman of the Patient Care Committee
and the Chairman of the Bioethics Committee.
